July is the month of some great festivals and celebrations in Thailand; Elephant Alms Giving Festival in Surin, Candle Festival in Korat, Floral Alms Giving in Buddhist Lent in Saraburi, Pattaya Marathon and many more. These festivals let visitors experience Thailand differently through numerous festive celebrations in July and throughout the 12-month calendar.

JULY 2017 – EVENTS CALENDAR
1 July – 31 October 2017
Taste Kang Song Coffee and Raft in Khek River
Where: Khek River next to Highway 12 Phitsanulok – Lom Sak range between the km 45-53 around Baan Sappraiwan to Kaeng Song, Wang Thong, Phitsanulok
Experience a 8 km. white water rafting through 18 rapids for 2-3 hours. Depending on the water level and the difficulty in white water rafting in Khek River, which is divided into 5 levels. Enjoy rafting and cleaning up the environment at the same time by picking up trash along the river.

Surin Candle Procession and Elephant Alms Giving Festival
Where: In front of Surin City Hall and Phraya Surin Phakdee Monument
Enjoy one of the biggest and most beautiful Candle parade and neatly decorated elephants parade. Experience Surin’s traditional ritual of situating Buddha relics on an elephant back. Witness a variety of Buddhist sacred ritual for instance, chanting holy stanzas ritual, meditation and prayer ritual. Watch a group holy chanting contest, altar arranging contest. Surins holds the world’s largest Elephant Alms Giving ceremony, this is one of Thailand’s highlight that shouldn’t be missed!

Korat Candle Festival
Where: Thao Suranaree Monument, Mueang, Nakhon Ratchasima
The festival features Candle contest, Candle parade contest, Candle making contest. Witness the sacred Chanting Holy Stanzas ritual.
8 July 2017
Lat Chado Market Candle Festival
Where: Lat Chado Market, Phak Hai, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya
In the festival, there will be candle parade on boat contest. The festival also features candle festival on both land and water. Watch Miss Lat Chado contest, Photography contest, a contest looking for the Best decorated house along Khlong Lat Chado and also local sports competition.

Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival
Where: Upparat Road (in front of Wat Si Ubon Rattanaram) Rob Thung Si Muang Road, Ubon Ratchathani
Witness the stunning printed and carved candles parade. Watch local dance contest and a variety of product exhibition.

Floral Alms Giving in Buddhist Lent and Candle Offering
Where: Wat Phra Phutthabat, Phutthabat District, Saraburi
Don’t miss the chance to participate in the one and only Floral Alms Giving Ceremony in Thailand, and also Saraburi most sacred and biggest ritual. Witness the Floral alms giving ceremony and candle festival at Phra Phutthabat. Take part in paying respect to spirit of King Song Tham ritual and watch a stunning floral parade.

Pattaya Marathon
Where: Beach Road, Pattaya, Chon Buri
Participate and win a trophy from the following categories which are Marathon, Half-marathon and quarter-marathon. The winners from each category will be presented with trophy, given by His Majesty the King. The details of each category are the following; Marathon has a total distance of 42.195 km., Half-marathon’s total distance is 21.100 km. and Quarter-marathon’s distance is 10.550 km.
16 – 25 July 2017
Rambutan, Durian and Si Sa Ket Specialty Festival
Where: Si Sa Ket College of Agriculture and Technology, Mueang, Si Sa Ket.
Come and enjoy a parade decorated with fruits (only on the opening day). You can also shop for agricultural and local OTOP products. Don’t miss the chance to take a walk around Srisaket Agriculture exhibition and watch Miss Farmers contest.

Ranong Foundation Day
