Master Planning for Better Destination Development

travel_index_1136Hong Kong (Hong Kong) – September 4, 2013 – Economy in Asia is booming and air-traffic in the region is forecasted to grow at 6.7% per annum. The cruise industry is also expecting a 17.0% annual growth in passengers. To leverage on the thriving tourism, destinations are urgently seeking partnerships and investments to upgrade supporting infrastructures, as seen in the latest tourism master plans of various developing countries. However, noticeably missing from the tourism master plans are policies to minimize environmental impacts.

Tourism sector contributes to 5% of global carbon dioxide emission, with air transport accountable for 40% of the share. The European Union and the United States of Americas are implementing Emissions Trading System for aviation and offshore emissions rules for cruise industry respectively. These signify the importance of environmental protection which lacks coordinated efforts in Asia.

Promoting wholesome master planning for the betterment of tourism, the Asia Pacific Tourism Destination Investment Conference (APTDI) 2013 will discuss social and environmental impacts of tourism developments. The conference will be a one-stop platform for all stakeholders to unleash investment potential through better policy framework, public-private partnerships and innovative business models. Attendees will include tourism/development/urban planning authorities, private-sector investors, developers, airlines, cruise terminals/operators, attraction/concept owners, design/architect/construction master planners, lawyers and financial/valuation/specialized consultants. To be held 21-23 October in Singapore, more than 500 top-level executives will gather at APTDI to address investment and development challenges at the destination level.

International Tourism Partnership members are entitled to 15% discount on regular delegate rate by quoting the discount code: TDIATP. For full conference program, speaker list and registration, please visit the event website at http://tdiasia.questexevents.net/ .
